How to install Minecraft PE Add-Ons / Mods on Pocket Edition iOS & Android

In this tutorial, we are going to show you how to install add-ons for Minecraft Pocket Edition on Windows 10.

Add-Ons come in three different forms on Minecraft Pocket Edition. First, you have add-ons that have a file extension such as .mcpack or .mcaddon. The other type of Minecraft Mod is .ZIP or .RAR file extensions. The .mcaddon extension is the most simple type of add-on to install. You just download the file on your phone and open it. This will automatically install it into your game.

If you download a mod from our site that is a .ZIP or .RAR then use the following tutorial:

If you have an Android scroll down the page a bit for that tutorial.

How to install Minecraft Addons / Mods on Pocket Edition iOS / iPhone

1. Start by browsing our Minecraft Add-Ons & Mods category and pick a mod you want to download. For this example, we’re going to be using the Hogwarts Robes add-on.

2. This mod comes in a .ZIP format which compresses the files to give them a smaller size. To extract and open the files inside you need WinRAR. It’s free and really easy to use.

3. Find the add-on you downloaded on your computer. In this example, we are finding Hogwarts Robes. After you find the file, open it. If it asks how you want to open it, select WinRAR. In this example, the add-on has both a Resource Pack & Behavior Pack. We will go over the steps to install both of those.

4. After you open the WinRAR file, select both folders and then click on the “Extract To” button.

5. Select the location to where you want to extract the folders to. In this example, I will be extracting them to my Desktop. You can do this as well, it’s a simple way to do it.

Now it’s time to do the actual installing.

6. The first thing you will want to do is download and install iMazing for PC, this is a free file manager software available for Mac and PCs.

7. Now it’s time to plug your iPhone into your computer using the iPhone cable your phone came with.

8. Find the mod you want to install, in our example, we’re doing Hogwarts Robe Mod. I already showed you how to extract it to your Desktop so it’s ready for part 4.

9. Go on iMazing and go to File > Open “File System”. This will bring you to the following page.

10. Now it’s time to go into the “Apps” Folder. Double click on it and it will bring you to a new screen with all the apps on your phone. Scroll down until you find Minecraft and then double click on it. After this, you will see a folder called “Documents”. Double click on this, then games, then com.mojang.

11. After making it to /apps/minecraft/documents/games/com.mojang/ from the above steps, you should see a behavior_packs folder and a resource_packs folder. Now, remember we extracted the .ZIP to our Desktop earlier on our computer?

Now it’s time to drag those files from our computer into the right folders on iMazing. For this example, we have both a Resource Pack & Behavior Pack. Go to your desktop and drag the HogwartsR (R stands for resource pack) into the Resource Pack folder on iMazing. Then drag the HogwartsB (B stands for behavior pack) into the Behavior Pack folder on iMazing.

12. Now that you have the Resource Pack & Behavior Pack’s in their correct folders on your phone, it’s time to start up the game and enable to mod. In our example, we will be creating a new world and enabling the mods on that world. If you want to add the mods to a current world, follow the same steps, without the create new world part.

13. Next you’re going to want to scroll down the settings until you find the “Experiments” settings. Once you find them, enable all three.

14. We’re on the final stretch! Next go to the “Add-Ons” settings on the left. Once there you want to select “Resource Packs” then “My Packs” then choose the mod and click “Activate”. After that you want to do the same thing for the “Behavior Pack” tab. Now that those are added, we can create our world and the mods will be loaded.

You’re all done! The mods have now successfully been added to your Minecraft Pocket Edition application for iOS / iPhone.

How to install Minecraft Addons / Mods on Pocket Edition Android

1. The first thing you want to do is download the Add-Ons zip file onto your Android Device. After this, you want to install WinRAR from the Google Play Store.

2. Next open the RAR app on your Android device and click the ‘Download’ folder. Inside this folder should be the .ZIP mod file.

3. Once you’re inside of the download folder you will see the .ZIP’s you just downloaded. For our example, we have RobesBehavior.zip and RobesResource.zip. Once is a Resource Pack, the other is a Behavior Pack.

4. Long tap on RobesBehavior.zip and then tap “Extract Files…”.

5. Once the new menu pops up, click “Browse…” and then go to the following file path destination: /games/com.mojang/behavior_packs/. Then press the okay button once you’re inside of the behavior_packs folder.

6. Now you’re going to want to do the exact same thing but for the Resource Pack. Since I just finished the Behavior Pack, I will now go back to HogwartsR.zip and long tap and hit Extract to…, they’ll go to the same file path but this time I extract it to the resource_packs folder.

7. Now that you have the Resource Pack & Behavior Pack’s in their correct folders on your phone, it’s time to start up the game and enable to mod. In our example, we will be creating a new world and enabling the mods on that world. If you want to add the mods to a current world, follow the same steps, without the create new world part.

8. Next you’re going to want to scroll down the settings until you find the “Experiments” settings. Once you find them, enable all three.

The mods have now successfully been added to your Minecraft Pocket Edition application for Android devices.
